Personality: Observing | Harsh | Quiet | Protective | Strict | Compassionate
Mortimer’s aspect and job require him to be unbending; thus he can come off as the type that says little and lets his actions speak for themselves, which at times can make him seem very unapproachable. He is constantly watching those around him to see if their words are as true as they seem to be. The Keeper doesn’t do well with liars and sweet talkers, they will be reprimanded for their actions.  This is the only warning they get before he leaves or forces them to stop.

He holds little humor and rarely smiles or laughs unless he feels that it is warranted.  It takes a special soul or someone fairly innocent for him to open up.  He is so adverse towards the world it makes it for him to trust anyone.  Yet that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care.  He behaves the way he does because he cares too much.  It is his existence to keep the islands safe and keep the peace as much as possible.  So it hits Mortimer hard when disaster occurs and he takes it personally whether he played a role in the situation or not.

While he is icy as his typing suggests there is a kind side to him.  He cares deeply for pretty much everything around him.  It is part of the reason why he tries so hard to keep things right in the Lower Planes.  It is hard on him to have to be cruel or punish his inmates and often wears his cold mask while doing the tasks.  Yet he stops at nothing to try to do at least the smallest of things to help make them a little more comfortable, to show them that it could be worse.

History:

Mortimer was born about 100 years before the first legendary war.  He was a child born from the god of love, Avacari but not created out of a loving encounter.  He was created out of curiosity and trickery, a child that was meant to grow up to be strong and powerful.  However, this is not to say that Avacari didn't take good care of the baby and help him grow up to be a good person.  The god loved the child like nothing other.  His early years of life were mostly kept secret in an attempt to make sure he grew up at all.  Once he was old enough to start take care of himself and was allowed out into the islands.

The more he grew the stronger he got and the more visible did his differences become compared to his mother, especially as Delmar grew much larger than Avacari's familiar.  Even the young man's own height was a bit startling considering his origins.  Along with his physical appearance his power was also fearsome.  He eventually found a way to another plane that no one had known existed.  A lower world that was covered in ice and weather so harsh nothing grew in it.  This place became Mortimer's private solitude from the rest of the outside, especially so when the first Legendary War raged on.  He hated it to no end to see gods tear into the each other and for mortal men to throw themselves into this 'cause.'

Yet his private land wouldn't stay so private.  The more the fighting grew, the more clear it became that certain legendaries shouldn't stay on the islands, even powerful mortals and spirits were slowly drug to the Lower Plane so they stayed out of trouble.  Eventually Mortimer's hideaway got the nickname the Underworld because it was the place you were taken if you deemed a foul enough person that threatened the island's safety, while the Mewtwo himself was called the Keeper, the warden of the frozen hell.  It seemed that the young legendary had found his aspect without ever even trying and sealing his fate of a rather lonely existence within the Lower Plane.

After the first war, when Pestilence's disease broke out, he was one of the few that were for locking the Keldeo away instead of punishing him with death.  Mortimer knew he would have to take the task upon himself to get the plague god under control.  When the deed was done, he felt heavy remorse for Pestilence and to this day blames himself for what Pestilence has become.

With recent events with the Keldeo, Keeper wonders if he has been too lax with Pestilence and perhaps other inmates.  His already cold demeanor seems even chillier as of late.

Familiar's Name: Delmar
Familiar's Personality: Attentive | Soft Spoken | Loyal | Eager
Delmar is Mortimer’s watch dog.  They are always on guard and making sure nothing slips past either of them.  Most of the time they are rather quiet, and they mostly speak to the Keeper through telepathy, only time Delmar speaks out is if they feel like more ears need to hear the conversation.  Oddly enough it is Mortimer’s familiar that speaks up and tries to get the bottom of a situation before their charge does.  The Mewtwo is loyal to a fault and wouldn’t betray the Keeper for anything, even if there is a disagreement Delmar is still by Mortimer’s side.  Their behavior to some would be considered dog-like.

Notes / Extra / Etc:

:bulletwhite: Due to the nature of his job Mortimer has numerous scars from dealing with dangerous gods and spirits.

:bulletblue:  Delmar’s gender is ambiguous, and prefers to be called them/they.

:bulletblack: Mortimer is actually one of the few gods born through natural means, he is the child of the deity of love, Avacari; and the god of war, Kain.

:bulletwhite: Mortimer keeps pet Houndooms to help watch over the depths of the Underworld.  He uses them to help track down anyone that escapes or to keep guard if he has to leave the plane.

:bulletblue: While he won’t admit it, the Keeper is actually a fairly lonely sort, being in the Lower Planes for most of the time he rarely has company.

:bulletblack: His axe is for more than just show, he is also troubled with the task of executioner if a one of his inmates is considered too dangerous to keep alive.

:bulletwhite: He is actually the one that sewed Pestilence’s eyes shut and tended to the disease god’s wounds while imprisoned.

:bulletblue:  Mortimer has taken up woodcarving as a way to pass time, he has gotten quite good at making unicorns and deer.

:bulletblack: Part of Keeper’s aspect is to seal away power.

:bulletwhite: He doesn’t seem to move much when he has to fight, striking out only when its necessary like he’s conserving his power and focusing his concentration.

:bulletblue: Keeper still remembers Pestilence’s name.
