Personality: Flirt | Entertainer | Protective | Sly | Nurturing | Judging | Crude

Manta is a showman.  He likes to put on a performance and catch attention.  He knows how to be polite and complementizing, but also showy and a huge flirt.  He likes to attract crowds to see his performances and uses his appeal to keep them hooked.  So beware of him paying people too many compliments or paying too much attention to them because his motives are often ulterior.  Yet he still is generally a good soul and can get along with others fairly well.  Unless the matters pertain to something that he holds dear, then he grows protective and possessive.  His dragon instincts telling him to covet and be wary of anyone that gets too interested.

He is sweet to children and animals and is very nurturing and protective of the former.  Manta hopes to someday have a large family like his own.  Since he comes from a large family he can be competitive and knows a lot of those little tricks about stashing good things in places and getting up early to get first dibs on things like washing up and first pick in food.  He also has a good nature towards young women and mothers-to -be after helping care for his older sisters and the women from the club. It is often older men of good standing and wealth that he has a hard time getting along with, unless it is for money. He is also no stranger to being rude and crass if he doesn't like someone.  He will often use his words and actions if he is trying to scare someone off.

History:

Manta comes from a rather large family, he is the youngest child in a family of eight. He was first born as a sweet eyed fairy typed Houndour.  Yet despite coming from a family so large it was never hard for his parents to raise six children.  Soon as each child was old enough they would be inducted into the family business, they were a troupe of traveling performers.  His father was a steel/fighting Darmanitan strong man that could lift all of his children by himself as part of the performance, which became a more amazing feat the older each child got.  His mother was a fairy/fire Luxio sword swallower that was also proficient in throwing knives.  As for his elder siblings; they all happened to be girls, which left him as the baby boy of the family.  His eldest sister, Maracella, was graceful and fearless she astounded audiences with her lack of fear towards heights though she was a rock type Glaceon.  The second eldest was Beltrisha, a fighting/rock Primape, whole was more like their father and could lift most men twice her size over her head. While the psychic/dragon Weavile twins, Rayanna and Vaillma, took more after their mother and practiced a lot with knives and illusions to shock and awe audiences.  This left the youngest daughter, Corinna, a sweet fairy Pachirisu, she is the one that instilled dance in Manta’s life.  She was amazing to watch and everyone felt pulled in while the girl danced.

Yet when Manta first was old enough to start participating helping out in the family business he wasn’t as sure what he wanted to do compared to some of his sisters.  His father hoped that he would be more like him, already tall for his age and thought perhaps he would fill more out when he got older.  However Manta never really felt too interested in it.  His mother had her guesses of maybe he would be graceful like her and tried to get him interested in knives as well.  It stuck for a while but his aim was always off just a bit too much which was worrisome during actual performances using live assistants.  Only when did he watch Corinna did he feel like perhaps his calling was more like her’s.  At first his sister was unwilling to share her limelight with him and help teach him how to dance. She went as even as far as to lie to him about it not being something meant for a tall boy like him.  So Manta taught himself in secret during the evening, during the day helping out by collecting money from tips from the crowds and setting up props between performances.

When he turned 12 he finally got his courage to try his dancing out on the public.  He went out his own to another part of Ormona, where they were currently settled down in, and began to dance on the street corner.  All he had wanted was a bit of validation for his choice in possible future career, to bring home whatever gold he got for his performance and show his family that he too could become a dancer. At first he didn’t attract too much attention but after a while slowly people would stop to watch and a few gave out a coin here and there.  Until he caught attention of someone that enjoyed his dancing immensely and they approached him about it.  An older poison-type Heracross with a greasy smile tried to convince Manta that the boy should work for him and that the Houndour would be paid handsomely for it.  At first the boy was reluctant and tried to leave but the Heracross persisted, giving more details and more marvelous sounding things than money to get Manta’s attention and agreeance. Eventually the man just told the young dancer that all he had to do was go see what it was like, if he didn’t enjoy it then he could go on his way.  Manta had agreed to the terms and decided to follow the Heracross further into the city.  They walked until they reached a district he never seen before.  At that point the Houndour wanted to leave, growing nervous about where they were, and even attempted to flee.  Yet the Heracross caught his arm and struck him hard in the head, causing him to black out.

From there Manta ended up serving a brothel that fronted as a club with private dancers.  He never saw his family again, though he had heard of a troupe looking for a boy here and there as gossip from patrons.  For the first years he was there he did nothing more than chores and trained in dancing.  His art had turned into something less innocent and more sensual and alluring.  By the time he was 16 he started to dance for patrons as well, yet he had blossomed into something unexpected.  The Heracross had hoped that Manta would remain boyish and small but instead the Houndour evolved and gained dragon typing that seemed to make him grow alarmingly tall.  He stood taller than most patrons and had a slight air of intimidation about him just by his sharp features alone.  Luckily he was still fairly popular amongst a few certain crowds.

During his occupation at the club he never had to spend time in the back rooms, for a while still deemed too young and after that he grew to be too out of hand.  Anytime someone had tried to do anything to Manta he would turn violent and uncooperative. Until eventually the Heracross was losing business because patrons were afraid of getting near Manta. Especially after he had broken a man’s arm after they had touched one of the girls there inappropriately.  In rage the Heracross threw Manta out with no money and no belongings besides the clothing on his back.

Since then Manta has been slowly trying to get himself back on his feet.  Still dancing since it is one thing he knows he can do for money. While he is also on the search for his family that he lost those years ago because he wandered a little too far away from home.  So far he has learned that the troupe has disbanded once his father had passed and many of his sisters have gone on their own ways as well.  He hopes to one day meet them all again and apologize for being gone for so long.

Familiar's Name: Nephizel

Familiar's Personality:

Nephizel looks and acts much like the type that doesn’t like to do anything that she doesn’t need to.  While she doesn’t come from the greatest social standing she will act like royalty.  She doesn’t say very much unless she feels like the have gained the right.  Yet she always watches what goes on around her and will step in at any time she thinks that Manta is in trouble.  She treats her counterpart more like her pup than them actually being on the same level.
